As you can see, the website is undergoing a major overhaul. I'm working on an actual blogging system called AirBlogger, which I will keep the development status updated here on a regular basis.
So you're probably wondering why I'm doing this, now, of all time. Whenever I made an update to the website in the past, it was all done by hand. I used templates that I created and just edited what I needed to. One of the biggest problems I had was that when I made an update and announced it on the front page, I would end up deleting them because I got lazy and forgot to save the previous entries and make a separate page for them. Soon, that won't be an issue.
Right now, AirBlogger is still early in it's development, so everything that I'm trying to address with the software, the software isn't capable of it yet. There's been a long standing issue with the forums of this site (ie., not working), which affected the rating system of the stories and blogs, and yeah. Also, I've learned a lot more about web development and design, as well as databases, so I figured I might as well get some use out of the knowledge and get some experience with the newly obtained information in now while I have some free time.
There might be some issues with Internet Explorer not displaying things correctly as it does in FireFox. I'm working on that though. So far it's just one thing and it's not noticable unless you view the site in both browsers. Different methods will need to be explored for this. If you're wondering the specifications will be to run AirBlogger, here's what you will need for the first release:
- PHP 5.x
- MySQL 5
- 100 MB free space (Estimated, this is a lightweight application)
There will be an ASP package with Microsoft SQL compatibility, but that will be further down the line after AirBlogger has been completed and fully tested.
Oh, the stories will be back up hopefully by the end of the week.
