Shitty Drivers
One of my biggest pet peeves is shitty drivers. You will find that no matter where you go, there is bound to be a shitty driver waiting to get in front of you,
and will just piss you off. There are several types of shitty drivers - people who tailgate trying to make you drive faster, those who are in front of you and
drive slow and/or crazy, and those on the sides of you (or on the highway) that don't pay attention at all.
Now, I'm guilty of tailgating to try and make the person in front of me drive faster, but I do end up passing them the first chance I get or realize that they won't
go any slower. I also try to not get too close, but yes, I'm one of those asshole drivers, at times, that I can't stand. The other night when TheWife and I were coming
home, someone was riding my ass to the point where I couldn't see their headlights in my rearview mirror at all. What'd I do? I slowed down 15 mph under the speed limit
and kept my pace to a crawl. The driver behind me wouldn't get off my ass, so I quickly tapped my brakes and he finally backed off, though not very much. Keep in mind I
was already doing 15+ over the speed limit when this first started to happen. That's just ridiculous.
Another kind of driver I hate is those that don't know how to fucking turn or wait until the last second to put their directional on and turn quickly after slamming on
their brakes. People in my area, as well as surrounding states, don't have the common sense to realize where they need to turn and usually come close to causing an accident.
I'm sure it's similar in other places as well. How hard is it to pay attention to the road and say "Hey, my turn is coming up. I'm going to slow down a little bit and let
the driver behind me know that I'm going to be turning"? It's not. It's also not difficult to pull into a parking lot, driveway, or make a turn onto another road on the
right hand side at a reasonable speed. There is no need to drop down to 4 mph to turn into anything and stop traffic behind you because you're too much of a pussy to just
turn. Yes, it's good to be cautious, but it's not a good thing to be overly cautious. I pull into my driveway at 10 to 12 mph, on a busy road, because I know that I live on
a dangerous corner and I could be responsible for causing an accident.
Other drivers I fucking loathe are those who can't keep a constant and steady speed. You know the kind of people I'm talking about. When you're on the highway and you're doing
75 mph in the passing lane, but the person in front of you isn't even doing the fucking speed limit. That sure as hell grinds my shit. You're in the fucking passing lane, so go
faster than the speed limit for a minute to get past the slow dickwad in the travel lane. Or how about when they're going 75+ mph and then they slow down, then speed up, then slow
down, then speed up, then get over into the travel lane, then cut you off at the last possible second? Is driving really that hard these days?
The people on the highways are always occupied with something else while driving. Many times in the morning, I'll see women with their rearview mirrors cocked and them putting on
their lipstick or eyeliner. I don't have an issue with talking on the phone, though it is illegal in my state and many others (which I find to be bullshit), but to put on your makeup?
I've also seen men shave with their electric razors or read the newspaper. People are fucking morons. What I love most about people on the highway are those that are so impatient behind
you in the passing lane that they hop over into the travel lane to try and pass you, but can't because there is a row of cars doing 12 mph and when they try to get back into the
passing lane, other people are already in the spots where they once were. I like fucking with those people by speeding up and making sure they can't get in front of me. Yea, one or two
cars in front of me won't really delay me anymore than traffic is, but why should I have to deal with someone who already has road rage, cut me off because the speed everyone is going
isn't fast enough for them? Fuck them. You don't own the roads.
My all time biggest pet peeve when it comes to driving is traffic jams for no reason or because of a very fast light. Every day that I get out of work, the offramp from the interstate is
backed up for at least 10 to 15 minutes. Why? Because people don't know how to fucking yield and the traffic light shortly off of the highway is so fucking quick, it's impossible to keep
a steady pace for vehicles. People who are coming into the lane from the yielding side think that everyone has to let them in. Fuck that. Why do I need to wait longer because you think you
deserve to get in front of me. I've seen so many near misses and close calls because people are just rude pricks on the road in these situations.
The absolute worst thing in the world I hate when it comes to driving is when you're stopped at a red light on a 4 lane road (2 lanes for each side of traffic) and someone pulling out of a
store is trying to make a left hand turn. People in the far right lane will let this person slip through, but people in the middle lane may not be aware that this car is crossing into their
lane. If this happens, you get an accident. Who's at fault in this situation? It should be the person who let this car out of the stores exit that gets charged for all of the damages. One day
while I was at work heading out to pick up lunch, I saw this exact scenario happen. I was in the far right lane stopped because of a stop light, and someone about 5 or 6 cars in front of me
decided to be a good citizen and let the person coming out of a fast food resturaunt out to cross 2 lanes of traffic to make a left turn. There was a car in the lane next to me coming down to
where the stop light was and didn't see over the trucks and other vehicles that this person was crossing over into his lane. Both cars were totalled within 10 seconds of that one person allowing
someone out of the fast food resturaunt. What did that driver do? He went on his merry way once the light turned green. People need to use more common sense when on the road. It really baffles
me when people are completely ignorant to the consequences of their actions, albeit they're trying to be nice, but sometimes being the nice guy isn't the best thing.
Drivers today fucking suck.
